I had the fortune of seeing my friend (and fellow Versa band member) Matt play an acoustic show at the Solstice Cafe the other week. Joined by Claire Coupland, the two billed themselves as Hot Stalin.

I think it’s kind of weird to write reviews of friends (my last review of Versa was before I met the group), so rather than do that I’ll just share some videos from the show. Enjoy!

New Stuff! New Stuff!

Yeah, I’ve been ignoring the blog lately. But I have some cool things to share, so hopefully you forgive me.

First up: The new City and Colour album, Little Hell, will be released June 7th. The official video for the first single, Fragile Bird, is set to be released soon. To help get you excited about it, check out some behind the scenes footage of the making of the video.

Second: Joel Plaskett!! This man can’t just put out a single album at a time. His last work was a triple album (appropriately entitled “Three”) and this summer he’s set to release two split 7 inches (one with Shotgun Jimmie and one with Jeremy Fisher) and a B-sides and rarities album.

Here is Joel’s contribution to the 7 inch with Shotgun Jimmie.

And here’s a song off the upcoming B-sides and rarities album “EMERGENCYs, false alarms, shipwrecks, castaways, fragile creatures, special features, demons and demonstrations”. (Yes, that’s the album title.)

Catch Joel Plaskett this summer at the Vancouver Folk Fest which runs July 15th-17th. (Pssst… word has it that he’ll release a new album this fall too. Keep an eye out!)
